Why Your Health & Fitness Depends on Leadership

Who is a leader? Well, the dictionary definition describes a leader as the person who leads or commands a group, organization, or country. Do a quick internet search for leaders and you’ll see a lot of articles about CEO’s pulling big time numbers or influencers pulling big time followers. But I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that the dollar signs or the number of followers attached to a name doesn’t make a leader. The title of “leader” carries much more weight. The truth is, everyone is a leader. A parent, a guardian, an older sibling, a teacher, a government official or even a free-spirited lone ranger; everyone is a leader in some capacity. So, how you live your lead your life serves as an example for those around you. I know what you’re thinking... "Ok FL, that’s great. But what does this have to do with health or fitness?" The answer is: Everything. We've said it time and time again, but health and fitness isn't just about that number on the scale or the barbell - it's about the day to day choices you make that impact you and those around you. How you lead your life, how you help other’s (your kids, your family, your students) lead their life creates an impact on yourself, the people you love and society as a whole. Everyone is a leader in some way and how you choose to lead makes a big difference to your health and fitness (mental, emotional, physical, spiritual, etc. etc.). So, own all aspects of your health and fitness. Lead with purpose, thoughtful intention and most importantly lead by example. The mark of a true leader is not defined by the power from which he/she governs from. The mark of a true leader is the space he/she creates for the pack. For the past 4 years, Functional Lifestyles has worked hard to create a space for people to get healthy, get fit, have fun, enjoy each other’s company, vent about the challenges in life and bask in the glow of life’s triumphs. Together, both clients and crew have made this place into a safe-haven, a community and a place where people could come together and just be… But as the old saying goes, “A ship is only as good as its captain”. Functional Lifestyles is what it is because the captain that steers this ship ensures that everyone who walks in and out of the FL door (more specifically, garage door) walks away a little healthier, a little happier and a little more uplifted. So, we'd like to extend a huge thank you to our fearless leader, Corey Mailloux and... HAPPY BIRTHDAY, COREY!!!

-Your FL Family :)
