It’s good to have goals.
Goals drive us. Goals motivate us. Goals help us elevate all aspects of our lives.
But many of us chasing a goal, forget the importance of the journey we take to get there, Often, it’s the lessons and connections that the journey has provided that reaps the greatest reward - more than the actual goal itself.
What am I talking about?
I’m talking about living process-oriented vs result oriented.
Don’t get me wrong. We need goals. As I mentioned, they help kick us into gear. But the issue with fixating solely on the “result” is that we lose the richness of the process.
Why is the process so important?
The process enables us to live in the present. This is one of the most vital components to happiness. Being present, connecting with your NOW is essential to happiness. The satisfaction from connecting with the current moment transcends throughout your lifetime; but results only guarantee temporary satisfaction.
Abandoning the pain of yesterday, releasing the anxiety of tomorrow allows us to fully embrace the moment. But, it is one of the most difficult things to achieve.
Our job as coaches is to provide you structure, accountability and help you develop habits that not only get you to your result but also help carry you through each moment afterward. We really can't stress enough how important your health and fitness becomes a lifestyle.
Sustainability and longevity are developed through the consistency of the process; not the achievement of the result.
Focus on progress. Not just the goal. Fall in love with the process. Not just the result. Focus on your today. Not just your tomorrow.
